ATHENS - The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a possible credit scam that's affecting more than a million people, including some in Northeast Georgia.
Athens-Clarke police say they've received roughly 50 calls of stolen credit and debit information.
All of the local victims paid for meals at the Taco Stand in downtown Athens over the past few weeks.
Authorities didn't see anything suspicious at the restaurant, leading them to believe Global Payments, the processing firm used by the restaurant may have been hacked.
Global Payments says it's working with officials to minimize the damage done by the security breach.
